This paper builds on previous work investigating least cost shipment and storage ofcotton from Texas, the largest U.S. producer of cotton. The model is used to analyze theeffects of reduced export demand on shipping patterns and costs to the overall cottontransportation system. In addition, we apply road deterioration parameters from theliterature to derive rough estimates of impacts of public roads.
