Supercritical fluid extraction is an important and viable alternative for recoveringasphaltenes and lube oil from crude oil residues. The Residuum Oil SupercriticalExtraction (ROSE?) process is the first deasphalting technology available in industry,operating near to the critical point of the solvent. This work presents a phase behaviorstudy for the separation of Oil-Asphaltene mixtures using supercritical propane. Thephase behavior of the ternary mixture was modeled using the Peng-Robinson equationof state. The ternary diagrams of the system were generated throughout variations inpressure and temperature around the critical point of the solvent. Furthermore, pseudocomponentswere evaluated and compared with the ternary mixture. The molecule ofasphaltenes was built up through group contribution method.
