Polymer-Drug Interactions and Wetting of Solid Dispersions

摘要

The rate at which a solid oral drug delivery systemdissolves depends on many parameters, such as wetting,solvent penetration and swelling. The first step involvedin this process, wetting, has been investigated for differentsolid dispersions. It is shown to be affected by drugpolymerinteractions, which may cause structural changesthat influence the hydrophobicity of the tablet surface.The observed behaviour depends on the combination ofdrug and polymer used for preparation of the soliddispersion.
