Lin Linezo zolid is an antibiotic effective against MSRA bacterialid and may offer an alternative treatment to vancomycin inancomycin orthopedic infection settings ettings. Antibiotics that are. Encapsulated in bone cement release only 5% of theloaded drug. The objective of this study w was to add as watersoluble excipients to the bone cement to increase the rateand extent of lin inezolid release. Both sodium chloride andzolid dextran effectively increased the release rate of lin linezolid zolidfrom bone cement without unduly aff affecting mechanicalecting strength. These methods offer an economically relevantmethod to increase the amount of antibiotic released,thereby reducing the drug loading requirement andimproving efficacy.
