This paper presents a summary of power quality related concerns associated with the applications of 12-pulse converter with dc motor drives in the industrial plants. These concerns include power system harmonic and harmonic distortion under asymmetrical operation of converter. The converter is also analyzed for constant var operation by considering the effect of source inductance. The effect harmonics is analyzed and simulation has been carried out to mitigate the harmonics using hybrid series active filter using synchronous reference frame theory for 12-pulse converter. The simulation result shows that the supply current THD remains within limit for the total operating range as per IEEE standard.
