Filter banks have already been shown to improve the performance of frequency estimation. It should be noted, however that carrying the frequency estimation in the subbands of a filter bank requires additional computational load due to the subband decomposition stage. In this paper, we propose a fullband scheme that is nearly equivalent to subband subspace methods. This scheme is based on the use of higher-order lags in the sample covariance of subspace methods. Performance analysis in terms of the mean square error and simulation results are included to compare the performance of the proposed method to that of subband subspace methods.
