@@ Introduction Hypohydration before, during, and after exercise can greatly hinder performance as well as threaten the health of athletes. Successful rehydration is a function of the volume of fluid consumed versus total fluid losses (i.e. hydration efficiency). Much of the research performed to date has focused on optimal beverage composition and volume consumed after exercise-induced hypohydration. If an optimal beverage composition could be coupled with a more effective administration of fluids during rehydration, urine loss may be decreased, and consequently total rehydration be improved. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to compare the effects of bolus versus metered water consumption on urine production and total rehydration.
