A new U-shape composite section is proposed firstly in this paper, which is made of two components, three steel plates are welded in U-shape named steel section and concrete is poured in,this kind of new composite section can eliminate the need of temporary formwork and minimize the construction cost, it can be used as compressed, tensile and flexural member in hybrid structure.Nonlinear FEM is used to simulate structure behaviors under axial compression, tension and bending moment, and then based on the former results, three bearing capability calculated expressions of compressing, tensing and bending are proposed. Loaded members with 17 sets of different composite section dimensions are investigated by nonlinear simulation and theoretical expressions respectively.It is found that the discrepancy between theoretical calculated expressions and nonlinear FEA results is only 2%, which is proved that these expressions can be referenced in the design of U-shape section member.
