Housing and insulation of electric power plugs are made of plastics by the injection molding process. During the molding process, the metallic inner tube of electric power plug is easily deformed. In order to prevent the deformation of the inner tube, the cause should be examined and proper molding condition has to be found. For the analysis of the plastic deformation the pressure exerted on the surface of the tube should be known. In this study, we utilized injection molding CAE software to calculate the pressure, and a structural analysis software to predict the plastic deformation of the inner tube. We found that the deformation mode was buckling of the tube. The predicted deformation was compared with experimental result. As a result, fairly good agreement between the simulation and the experiment was obtained.
