Breath analysis allows monitoring several pathologies in a non invasive way. Notwithstanding semiconductor-based sensors show optimal features for clinical application (easy to manufacture, small in size and cheap) until now specific devices based on MOS sensors for breath analysis are lacking and sensitivity is still poor. In this study are reported preliminary data on the development of an acetone MOS sensor in order to analyze diabetic patient's breath. In_2O_3 nanopowders synthesized by two different sol-gel methods have been compared as sensing layer.
