The transmission behavior of IR absorber-coated PET films was quantified by capturing the transmission response during a single 200-ms pulse from a diode laser system. Two Clearweld~R IR absorbers and one Epolight~(TM) 8316 IR absorber were tested to examine their transmission behavior dependency on energy, absorber concentration, and absorber formulation. Transmission plots of PET films with and without IR absorbers were collected and compared. As the pulse length increased, the transmission of the PET films coated with IR absorbers increased. At the end of the pulse, the transmission was still increasing for all coated samples.
