Non-isothermal oxidation of carbon reinforced carbon composites (CFC) was studied at an ambient pressure of air and temperatures ranging from 25 to above 1000°C. It was found that the texture of matrix carbon exhibits strong influence on the oxidation kinetics. Medium and high textured carbons show much different reactivity. Apparent activation energy and oxidation controlling mechanisms at various temperature ranges were discussed based on the experimental results.
