Polyimide is a high-performance polymer owing to its high thermal stability and chemical resistance. Accordingly, it found applications in the composite and microelectronics industries. Various investigations have been performed on MWNTs/polyimide composites. In this work, the mechanical and electrical properties, and thermal stability of carbon black/multi walled carbon nanotube/polyimide nanocomposites were investigated. The polyimide film have been contained 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 wt. % MWNTs and 10 wt. % carbon black. The mechanical and electrical properties of the polyimide film were characterized by specific resistance measurement, and tensile strength, respectively. The thermal properties have been studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). As a result, the thermal stability of the film was increased with increasing the MWNTs content and tensile strength as well. The specific resistance was decreased with increasing the MWNTs content. This result indicated that the crosslinking of CBs/MWNTs/PI composites was enhanced by well-dispersion of CBs and MWNTs in Polyimide resins, resulting in the increase of the mechanical and electrical properties, and thermal stability of the resulting nanocomposites.
