Awlad Salamah is located at about 25 km south Sohag, on the boarder of the green belt of the Nile to the western desert. A considerable part of the village is produced by land reclamation; consequently,most of the crops are not suitable for cultivation, also water lack is another argument. The present work aimed to the geotechnical evaluation and assessment of a selected area to study its suitability for fish farming. The study included magnetic survey using the GeoScan gradiometer FM36, the electromagnetic survey profiler GEM300, and GPR survey using SIR20. Also, analytical study of the soil within the uppermost 6 meters has been done and synthetic modeling has been created. The geophysical results showed that the soil is composed of sand, silty sand with few intercalation of clay.Furthermore, the remains of former trials of cultivation have been located; some of them are gourmet tins (0.25 x 0.25 x 0.45 m) that have been used for agricultural seedlings. Although, the proposed depth of the farm is 2 meters, a geotechnical assessment regime based on the geophysical results is highly required to make the ground suitable for fish farms and to guide the water usage.
