Creation and Implementation of a Contractor Accreditation Program for Spray Polyurethane Foam

Bayer MaterialScience LLC (BMS) developed its Contractor Accreditation Program with several goals in mind. Foremost among these were to: 1) increase safety in the contractor community through education and awareness of established health environment and safety protocols and industry best practices, 2) drive improvements in quality and consistency of applied product, and 3) develop criteria and an objective measure of a contractor's capacity to handle and apply Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) in a responsible manner. BMS implemented this Contractor Accreditation Program throughout the BMS SPF contractor community beginning in 2011. Implementation through distribution channels was initiated in mid-2012. BMS intends that the content and accreditation criteria of its program remain evergreen, allowing the program to evolve to include (for example) the consensus training and accreditation standards currently under development by the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA).
