Novel Polyester Polyols for Superior Polyurethane Dispersions

A new bio based polyester polyol has ben developed specifically for polyurethane dispersions for coating applications. Bio-based polyols have been in the market and are known for their excellent hydrophobicity and the resulting coatings with improved durability, adhesion and water resistance. This new polyol imparts a unique combination of improved tensile strength and enhanced surface hardness in combination with high flexibility. Exceptional stain resistance was found for water, lipstick and hot coffee in clear coats. Furthermore a good durability and improved gloss was seen as a result of extreme moisture and abrasion resistance. The polyol also has a lower viscosity than comparable polyols which can result in easier processing and handling.
