Aside from the energy intensive industrial processes, the energy needed to provide the necessary heating and cooling in the fast growing modernized building sector has posed new challenges to the power generation industry worldwide. The objective of this study is to analyze the electrical power consumption and demand of a geo-thermal heat pump (GHP) system used for providing heating and cooling in a commercial building. The literature review along with several aspects of desiging the particular GHP system related to enhancement of energy efficiency is discussed. The characteristic performance and results from actual monitoring of electrical energy demand and consumption of a GHP system are examined.
