Nanoparticles of DEMC-insulin were prepared by both ionotropic gelation and polyelectrolyte complexation (PEC) methods. The nanoparticles were characterized and compared for their size, zeta potential, loading, release, and stability. The results indicate that the nanoparticles prepared by the PEC method have higher insulin loading and zeta potential; however, the stability and release of insulin were comparable with both methods.
