Transferrin-modified procationic liposomes as a new carrier for the delivery of plasmid DNA

Transferrin-modified Procationic-Liposomes- Protamine-DNA (Tf-PLPD) was mainly prepared of cholesterol derivative cholest-5-en-3β-yl[2-[[4-[(carboxymethyl)dithio]-1 -iminobutyl]amino] ethyl] (CHETA, C_(36)H_(61)N_3O_4S_2). The liposomal characteristics and effects of targeting therapeutic gene to human hepatoma cells in vitro were studied. Results indicated that Tf-PLPD were a potential carrier for the delivery of plasmid DNA.
