Enhancement of Transdermal Permeation of Granisetron

Granisetron permeation through human cadaver skin was improved by the use of oleyl alcohol. Dipropylene glycol yielded very little penetration enhancement. Use of PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone) in the adhesive matrix resulted in substantial permeation enhancement. A combination of PVP and oleyl alcohol appears optimal for providing rapid onset of anti-emetic therapy in-vivo.
