A sequential Design of Experiment (DoE) study was implemented to optimise the loading of Drug X into a vaginal hydrogel formulation. The key parameters influencing the final potency of the drug loaded formulation were found to be time, temperature and the initial concentration of the drug loading solution. Through the use of a sequential design strategy key process parameters were optimised and validated by robustness testing.
