pH responsive Elastin-Like Polypeptides (ELPs) for low pH-induced drug release

The transition temperature of histidine-containing ELPs increases under low pH. Upon heating, block copolymers with histidine-containing inner blocks and hydrophilic outer blocks transition from monomer to nanostructure intermediate and finally to aggregate. Low pH raises both transition temperatures, enabling a possible drug-releasing micelle to monomer transition at low pH.
