摘要

The purpose of this paper is to discuss Cross-valley ( CV ) Slope effects and their impact on the results of Static Stability Analyses of Concrete Gravity Dams ( CGD ). The Static Load Cases being dealt with herein, are those falling under the "Usual" and "Unusual" ( Floods) classifications. The impacts of Seismic Events on CGDs falling under "Extreme" Load Cases, although very important, are not included here, to make the communication of the CV effects easier to follow. The paper describes relatively simple adjustments that can be made in the analyses to account for CV Slope effects, that would likely be applicable to most CGDs.
