Both low- and high-Reynolds-number versions of a stress-? turbulence model were applied to the vertical flow of air through a tube with high wall heat flux boundary conditions. Heating rates were sufficiently high so that fluid properties varied significantly, and consequently fully developed flows did not result. Solutions were compared against experimental data existing in the literature. The results revealed that the inclusion of low-Reynolds-number corrections were necessary to achieve reasonable agreement with experiments in terms of predicted wall temperatures, and mean axial velocity and temperature profiles.
