A RELATIONAL VIEW OF SUPPLY NETWORK QUALITY: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY OF SUPPLIER-BUYER AND SUPPLIER-SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS

In this paper, we develop and define a relational view of supply network (SN) quality by focusing on inter-organizational relationships. Two relevant dimensions of SN quality are identified: conformance to targeted supply network relationship pair (SNRP) and durability of the SNRP. An empirical case data analysis method is used to present a typology that explicitly and simultaneously analyzes two very different relationships in SN (supplier-buyer and supplier-supplier) relationships. Joint incidences of these relationships are captured and the identified patterns of their interplay and influence on SN performance are explored.
