The Olympics are a multi-billion dollar global event that is largely sponsor driven. The appeal and imagination of unusual amateur sports draws billions of viewers, which provide the sponsors with the value they are seeking. This paper introduces the concept of space sports as a future business, entertainment and commercial activity, and describes how sporting events and the promotion of these events in space can make a powerful connection with popular culture and build markets for human commercial space activity as well as inspire the general public about space. Furthermore, sports in space also contribute to peace for our terrestrial life and economic activities. Sports can drive space both commercialization and popularization, and provide a new source of revenue for the expansion of space infrastructure.
