The simulation of shallow buried explosive (SBE) blasts has received increased attentionin recent years. Predicting aspects such as the positive phase impulse at a certain standoffdistance and the motion of the ejected sand are of interest. The quality of thenumerical results obtained depends on several factors including the type of solver used.In this regard, two approaches can be employed. In the first, only an Euler solver is usedwhereas in the second the soil is represented using a Lagrange solver. In this paper,ANSYS AUTODYN(R) is used to compare the results provided by these alternativesagainst experimental results available in the literature.
