Thermal induced distortion in the gain element is the main obstacle to be overcome in the scaling of solid-stale lasers to very high output powers. The resultant distorted thermal lens cannot be compensated for by cavity design alone. The investigation of the possibility to influence on the output beam parameters of a solid-state laser by methods of intra-cavity adaptive optics was earned out. An adaptive optic mirror has been used intra-cavity to control the output power of a solid-state laser. Power and beam profiles optimization are demonstrated by closed loop automatic optimization of the deformable mirror.
