Transport, an enabler in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Transport integrates social, environmental and economic development dimensions. This paper discusses transport as a critical component to a sustainable development that will drive the goal eleven (11) (Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable) of the United Nations sustainable development goals based on South African perspective towards 2030. The paper highlights South African transport policies, the transport programmes and projects undertaken by the Government of South Africa that will help South Africa to achieve the objectives set out in the United Nations Development Goals for 2030.
