In the same manner the numerical assisted design of noncomplex shaped grinding tools are often very realistic, In contrast to this the prediction of the dynamic behavior of complex tools as they are used for cup wheel grinding is not accurate until now. A good vibration behavior of the tool decisively depends on the experience of the design engineer. Untill now the design and tuning is a strong itarative procedure without the possibility to determinate complex shaped tools or a type series of cup grinding wheels. Therefore, the authors have generated a procedure to define the necessary design of a type series of cup wheels for the process of ultrasonic assisted grinding both, very quick and accurate.
