Perfluorinated sulfuryl resins (PFSR) are synthesized by copolymerization of a perfluorinated sulfuryl vinyl ether ( PFSVE) and tetrafluoroethylene (TFE). PFSRs can be disposed by strong alkali solution and succeeding strong acid aqueous solution. In this way, sulfuryl fluoride (-SO2F) groups in PFSRs was transferred by sulfonic acid (-SO.OH) groups in perfluorinated sulfoacid resins (PFSAR). PFSARs are used as a super-acid catalyst in the production of fine chemicals. PFSARs are also used as fabricate Ion-exchange membranes to produce chlorine gas and sodium hydroxide solution by the electrolysis of salt water, as the proton exchange membranes in polymer electrode fuel cells, and electively dry or to humidify gases.
