Investigation on particle sampling for high-pressure natural gas

A new Null-type sampling nozzle in association with six sampling holes was developed to measure the aerosol concentrations and distributions of high-pressure natural gas in isokinetic sampling conditions. The isokinetic sampling performance of sampling nozzles were investigated by experiment and numerical simulation with standard Κ-Ε turbulent model, in which a variety of operating conditions were considered. Numerical simulation was also used to analyze sampling performance for high-pressure gas. The maximum deviation between the experimental and numerical data was less than 4%. Furthermore, the new Null-type sampling nozzle was used to measure filter separation efficiency at a natural gas compressor station with the operation pressure of 6.0 MPa. The results of experiment and numerical simulation show that the new Null-type sampling nozzles have relatively smaller isokinetic sampling errors and reliable sampling efficiencies, which are sufficient for high pressure natural gas sampling.
