摘要

The results of this survey of practitioners showed that PMWS remains an important disease having a major impact on the swine industry in Asia. The prevalence of the disease appears to be higher in countries like Taiwan, South Korea and China. Apart from Thailand, the economic impact in all surveyed countries was perceived to be high. Not surprisingly, about half of the respondents in these countries rate a vaccine as useful to necessary. In a similar study in Western Europe (Joisel et al., 2006), more than 35% of the veterinarians report of PMWS cases occurring later than 16 weeks whilst in the present study, the veterinarians were of the opinion that there were no cases appearing later than 15 weeks of age. This study also showed that the clinical syndrome of PMWS has not radically changed.
