In this work the usability of sodium carbonate solutions in CO_2 capture was studied. Vapor-liquid equilibrium of CO_2 -sodium carbonate-sodium bicarbonate-water system was measured at temperatures of 40 to 80 °C and results were compared with data from the literature. Based on the experimental data obtained, a rigorous thermodynamic model was developed to describe the partial pressure of CO_2 and the liquid phase speciation as function of loading. Pilot plant scale measurements were carried out to study the behavior of the system in absorber and desorber.
