GO MAUT - ENFORCEMENT THE ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM OF THE AUSTRIAN HEAVY GOODS VEHICLE TOLL

The Austrian truck tollig system “GO-Maut” is a multi-lane, free flow open electronic fee collection system for heavy goods vehicles on the whole motorway network of Austria. It was successfully put into operation on January 1st, 2004 and has been showing smooth operation for more than 2? years now. It has been and it is improved continuously. Any countrywide toll collection scheme has special requirements in respect to enforcement, which are highlighted in this paper for the Austrian context. The paper comprises a short introduction into the fee collection scheme itself, followed by an overview of the enforcement system in terms of the business rules applied and then puts the focus on the various enforcement subsystems (like stationary, mobile, portable units) introducing them in the necessary detail. Following the respective wish of the Congress Committee, differences to the German enforcement system are indicated when appropriate (and printed in italics) - however, to gain more insight into the German solution please refer to the respective paper (the paper # is unfortunately not available yet).
