The power delivery industry is going through a massive miniaturization and integration evolution in several market areas. Integrated power solutions such as Smart Power Module type products are core to this change in the consumer and induszrial markets, while standard integrated driver-MOSFET (DrMOS) style modules are examples in the PC and telecommunications markets. More functionality integrated into one package allows the end system or applications engineer to concentrate on the overall system performance. This integration allows the complex internal workings of integrated circuits to be fully transparent to the application designer, while providing previously unattainable performance. Integrated power solutions are fully designed, optimized and packaged power devices that perform the complex functions of any power sub-circuit or even a power subsystem while fully optimizing circuit interfaces between controller, drivers and the switching power devices. These devices extract the last drop of performance from the sub-circuit or subsystem components while offering new horizons in price and performance. Ultimate success in the marketplace is determined by achieving short design cycles, answering time-to-market demands, and providing the lowest total cost of ownership. This means that system innovations must be launched into the market in the shortest time possible. Providing subsystem building blocks is a great way to bridge the gap between the application concept phase and the prototype and final testing phases. These subsystem building blocks provide the system design engineer with fully-tested and optimized modules without the need to undertake a time consuming component level design effort. Therefore, the first prototype can be a full system, utilizing optimum components, rather than a subsystem requiring integration with other subsystems.Integrated power solutions offer state-of-the-art drop-and-run solutions providing higher performance, smaller,more efficient, more reliable and superior cost-performance value propositions.
