This presentation covers environmental and societal challenges shaping thefuture of the petrochemicals industry from a global perspective. The businessvalue of adopting an approach in line with sustainable development will bearticulated.What we need to do differently to create a more sustainable petrochemicalsindustry is described in terms of profitability, resource depletion, energy andclimate change, community relations and chemicals management.Shell Chemicals' first steps on a long journey towards sustainability will bedescribed in terms of how we are progressing against the Five YearSustainable Development Goals we have set ourselves.
