THE GEOCHEMISTRY AND PETROLOGY OF SOURCE ROCKS FROM THE PARANA BASIN, BRAZIL

摘要

The principal objective of this study is the geochemical, petrographical and palynological characterization of the two main sequences of potential source rocks (Ponta Grossa and Irati Formations) of the Parana Basin. The basin is a huge intracontinental sedimentary area located in the southeast center portion of the South-American continent (Figure 1), with about 1.700.000 km~2 of territorial surface (Zalan et al., 1990).
