In this paper, two kinds of dicyanate ester resins, bisphenol A dicyanate ester (BADCy) resin and dicyclopentadienylbisphenol dicyanate (DCPDDCy) ester resin, were employed in fabricating carbon fiber reinforced composites. Curingprocessing parameters were determined by gelation time curves and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) curves of thesystems. Mechanical properties of the two kinds of composites including flexural strength, compact strength and interlayershear strength were measured according to the National Standard of China. Results showed that these two composites all hadhigh performance. Mechanical properties of composite based on DCPDDCy were relatively higher than the one based onBADCy. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) was employed to show the dynamic mechanical properties of the compositesand the results were accordant to the conclusion above. Microstructures of the fracture surface of the composites were studiedby scanning electron microscopy (SEM) technology. The carbon fiber composites based on cyanate ester resins showed greatpotential applications in aerospace and aircraft industries.
