The hydrodechlorination (HDCl) process of 2,3-, 2,4- and 2,5-dichlorobiphenyls was studied over a sulphided Ni-Mo/Ccatalyst in a stirred autoclave at a hydrogen pressure of 3 MPa. The catalysts were prepared by spray-drying. Two activatedcarbons with different porous texture were used as a support. The Ni-Mo/C catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption andSEM-EDX. The reaction temperature of the catalytic HDCl process was varied in the range 230-290oC. The HDCl degree ofdichlorobiphenyl isomers ranged from 43 % to 100 %. The efficiency in the chlorine removal was found to be related to theposition of the substituted chlorine atom and the type of carbon support.
