Orientation effect of moving graphite bulk on the carbonaceousmesophase textures during their development

To examine the formation features of carbonaceous mesophase around moving graphite bulk, graphite cylinder with highdensity, high purity and high strength (three-high) was mounted on a stainless steel plate, which has been fixed on a stirrer,and then the stirrer was used to agitate a coal tar pitch during heat-treatment. It has been found that carbonaceous mesophaseformed around the graphite bulk presents different features in transverse and longitudinal directions. The dimensional textureof mesophase outside the graphite bulk is very complex and can be divided into three parts. After heat-treatment,mesophase/graphite composite was obtained.
