摘要

This paper presents a method for carrying out structural analysis of prestressed concrete reactor containmentsusing the finite element technique. The method is verified and validated by comparison with test data from alarge-scale overpressurization test performed on the NUPEC/NRC 1:4-scale model of a prestressed concretecontainment vessel model at Sandia National Laboratory, USA. The posttest analysis has been carried out as a partof the ISP 48 project arranged by OECD/NEA. The general finite element analysis (FEA) system ABAQUS hasbeen used. Some different approaches on how to model unbonded prestressing tendons have been evaluated. Thechosen approach makes it possible to take into consideration the transition from the initial uneven prestressingforce distribution along the tendons, to a more or less even distribution along the tendons during pressurization.The method also makes it possible to actually simulate the prestressing sequence during construction.
