The goal of many natural language processingplatforms is to be able to somedaycorrectly treat all languages. Each newlanguage, especially one from a new languagefamily, provokes some modificationand design changes. Here we presentthe changes that we had to introduce intoour platform designed for European languagesin order to handle a Semitic language.Treatment of Arabic wassuccessfully integrated into our cross languageinformation retrieval system, whichis visible online.
