United Way of America is the largest non-profit, private community solutions provider. It raisesmoney from individual contributions, mostly from salaried employees, and uses these funds tosupport local initiatives. This teaching case employs statistical forecasting methods to analyzecollection patterns in 34 local communities served by the United Way. The purpose of this case isto allow students to utilize forecasting tools, such as Simple Linear Regression and MultipleLinear Regression to estimate future annual contributions and to evaluate the impact of adversemanagerial and economic factors.
