A clinical study that demonstrated the rapidabsorption and steady delivery of hydromorphonethrough the skin into the systemic circulation wasperformed. A hydromorphone patch was applied for24 hours over an array of micropores createdthrough the stratum corneum. After patch removal,hydromorphone cleared rapidly from the systemiccirculation.
