When the fault is tested through the fault tree(FT), the test strategy is not exclusive. For this reason, the fault test strategy for mechanical systems through diagnosis tree(DT) was examined. The fault signature information content was defined using the concepts of self-information and entropy in the information theory, and the algorithm of the fault signature information content was presented. The method and program of the fault test strategy made through DT was proposed based on the rule of maximum fault signature information content. The research shows that the fault test strategy made through DT is of adaptive characteristic, and the fault can be tested rapidly and dynamically.
