A machine vision (MV) based method of signal inspection, signal analysis and signal processing is proposed first, in which the problems of on-line inspection in the process of product manufacturing can be solved. Then, take drug package inspection as an example, the first thing in this process is that the image of inspected product is captured through machine vision techniques followed by the process of analysis and recognition of image characteristics. By comparing the inspected characteristic of product with the standard characteristic given, it can be known whether the products have some quality defects, such as chips, deformities and vacuoles, etc. And the final signals are presented for judgment and/or control to classifying the products. The result of this study shows that the machine vision, which is integration of modern sensor and computer techniques, is characterized not only by high reliability, rapid speed and repeatability, but by high intelligence as well. And it is indispensable to the on-line inspection in the modern automated production.
