A device is fitted on artillery muzzle to measure velocity on muzzle platform which is inconvenient and easy to be damaged in combat. On board muzzle velocity measuring method does not need to fit any devices on muzzle, and bears high reliability. On-board muzzle velocity measuring & precise timing fuze is a high precision electronic time fuze, which measures the muzzle velocity and corrects loaded time, based on elementary principle of turns-counting fuze. Just after projectile left muzzle and went through aftereffect period, the fuze measures its revolve in a short distance using a inner turn sensor (GMR). The span of projectile can be calculated with its relation of turns and pitch. Meanwhile, corresponding time is measured by a precise timer. Then the mean velocity of projectile at this trajectory span is calculated, and muzzle velocity can be calculated according to outer ballistics. Muzzle velocity is used to correct pre-loaded action time to improve timing precision.
