With the development of large scale and complex equipment systems, the maintenance costs are more and more. And moreover, the loss of downtime is considerable or the consequence is significant. However, the reasons for systems faults or paralysis are often that some minute faults cannot be detected and got rid of in time. The self-repairing technique based on artificial life is that form the view of bionics, the theories that if they are injured human bodies will self-detect, self-diagnose and self-repair is used to system equipment. It is fit for the development requirement of modern equipment. In this paper, the relation between the artificial life and the self-repairing technique is firstly introduced. Then according to different damages for three kinds of equipments, a variety of self-repairing techniques are depicted. They are including machine equipment damage self-repairing technique, electronic production damage self-repairing technique and evolvable hardware self-repairing technique. The self-repairing technique based on artificial life has definite meaning for equipment fault diagnosis technology development.
