A fully compliant bistable micromechanism which can avoid unwanted friction has been introduced. The topological characteristics of compliant micromechanisms were analyzed based on mechanism theory and an appropriate mechanism typology was chosen. To simplify the mechanism design, the Pseudo-Rigid-Body Model (PRBM) was used for modeling and analysis of this mechanism. Subsequently, the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was introduced to deal with the PRBM and check whether the design was valid or not. Moreover, in order to attach the mechanisms to suitable actuators, optimization techniques were presented and some methods were introduced to achieve optimization objectives.
